Hello WAMAA members,
Below is an email I received from the Michigan Firehouse Museum and Education Center. They are gearing up for their annual Fire Truck Muster and are looking for some volunteers to lend a hand and/or truck. The event flyer and registration form is attached. Hope to see you there!
The Michigan Firehouse Museum will be holding its annual Fire Truck Muster/Show on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park from 10 am to 3 pm. Join us for this free outdoor exhibition of fire apparatus showcasing rigs dating from the early 1920s right up to today. Several trucks will be in operation drafting water from the Huron River.
There will be special hands-on activities for children including a working hand pumper, bucket brigade demonstrations, pedal fire trucks, and a visit from Freddie the Fire Truck, a remote control fire truck provided by the Howell Fire Department.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the Saline Fire Department’s smoke house trailer and fire safety information will be available from our friends at Safe Kids Huron Valley. This year’s event is generously sponsored by Les Heddle/Edward Jones Investments.
We would love to encourage area fire departments or any firefighters who own rigs in the area to participate so I have also included a registration form in the attachments. Also, we can always use volunteers on the day of the event especially anyone who has experience driving fire trucks and might be willing to help us get some of the museum’s rigs down into the park.
